- Is Behest HIPAA compliant?
- There is no official HIPAA certification, and Behest does not claim compliant status. What Behest provides are controls that support your own HIPAA program: PHI and PII scrubbed from prompts before they reach a model, an audit trail of every AI call, model approvals per team, and a self-hosted option on the Enterprise tier that keeps prompts, completions, and provider keys inside your own environment. Whether your program meets HIPAA is a determination you make with your compliance team.
- Does patient or policyholder data leave our environment?
- On the Enterprise plan, Behest removes PHI and PII from a prompt before it reaches a model, so those fields are not sent to the AI provider. If your policy requires more, the Enterprise tier includes a self-hosted option: Behest runs inside your own environment, and prompts, completions, and provider keys never leave it. On the standard SaaS option, Behest runs in Behest's cloud.
- Can we set separate AI budgets for claims, underwriting, and clinical teams?
- Yes. Budgets are set per department, team, project, or application, in tokens or dollars, and enforced automatically as requests happen. Every call is tagged to the team that made it, so finance can charge AI costs back to the right cost center instead of absorbing one provider bill.
- Which AI models can our teams use?
- Your administrators approve the models each team may call, and anything outside that list is blocked. Behest works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and others, so you can add a new model, or retire an old one, centrally without changing every application.
- Will Behest lower our AI bill?
- It can, in two ways. Budgets and visibility stop overruns and untracked usage. Cost-aware routing can send a request to a cheaper model where the use case allows, which saves up to ~30% depending on use case. Behest never promises a fixed percentage.
- How is Behest priced for a health plan or insurer?
- Behest is licensed as software: a SaaS subscription in Behest's cloud, or on the Enterprise tier, the option to self-host. You can bring your own provider API keys or use models through Behest with pass-through billing. Behest does not mark up tokens. Plans are sized to your annual AI spend, and self-hosting, PHI and PII scrubbing, and prompt-injection defense are included in the Enterprise plan. Contact us for a quote.
